Team 43332E placed 6th in skills, 6th in Qualifying, was interviewed for the Excellence Award, and was a semi-finalist at the State Championship on March 9-10 at Marion Harding HS!
Team 6403V (5th) and 6403S (9th) placed in the top 10 in Skills at the VEX IQ State Championship on February 25th at North Union. Teams 6403V (4th), 6403W (10th), 6403Z (11th), 6403T (19th), 6403S (21st), 6403P (22nd), and 6403M (24th) were ranked in the top 24 in the Qualifying Rounds and made it to the Elimination Round. Team 6403V won the Teamwork Championship and Team 6403Z won the STEM Research Project Award. Both of these teams qualified for the 2017 VEX World Championship!
After finishing 2nd, 3rd, and 6th in our first 3 tournaments, Team 6403V was able to secure a last second victory at Carrollton on 2/18/17. Brookside teams had 6 of the top 11 ranked teams in the event, but were unable to win any of the judged awards.
Team 43332E made history on 2/17/17 at Lorain. After finishing 16th in the qualifying round and being overlooked for the alliance selection, this middle school team became the first Brookside VEX team to win an Excellence Award! This team is now qualified for MS State on March 9-10 in Marion. Team 6403A continued to be successful, winning their 5th trophy of the season and raising their skills score to 68, still #1 in all of Ohio!
The VEX Robotics Tournament at Cleveland State University on 2/11/17 was another great day for Brookside SMART Robotics. We earned 3 trophies in all, including 2 trophies we have never won before.
Team 6403A earned the Judges Award, "Recognitoin from the Judges for Special Accomplishments". This was based on their team interview and overall performance. This team also had the highest skills score, earning the Skills Award. Their alliance made it to the semi-finals. Most importantly, 6403A now has the #1 skills score in the state.
Team 6403B wins the Create Award! This is awarded to a team whose robot implemented a "Creative Engineering Solution". Nick has certainly earned this award (although he had to leave early and couldn't accept it in person).
Brookside Middle School team 43332F was chosen into the #8 alliance, becoming our first middle school team to play in an elimination round, and made it to the quarter-finals!
Team 6403Z won the Excellence Award, team 6403M won the Design Award, and team 6403P was on the winning alliance at the Brookside Winter VEX IQ Crossover event on 1/28/17. Teams 6403M and 6403P will join team 6403Z (now double-qualified) at the Elementary State VEX Championship! Team 6403S also won a trophy for Skills Champion but this is not a state-qualifying award.
Teams 6403A and 6403B teamed up with 3264R from NERD Nation (Norwalk) to win the 2017 Brookside VEX Starstruck event. Team 6403A is now double-qualified to state and team 6403B is qualified as well!
Team 6403Z qualified for the Ohio VEX IQ State Championships by winning the Elementary Excellence Award at the Brookside VEX IQ event on 12/3/16.
Team 6403A qualified for the Ohio VEX State Championships with their placing as Tournament Finalist at the Kalahari VEX event on 12/17/16.
